Lara Beach in Antalya is hosting an international sand sculpture festival featuring more than 40 sculptors from 12 different countries. The artists have have been working in Antalya for the last month to create the sculptures.

The 16th Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival started yesterday in the ancient Aspendos Theater in the Mediterranean city of Antalya. Just as in previous years, the festival opened with Guiseppe Verdi’s 'Aida' opera.

The Mediterranean city of Antalya has received good news regarding the aviation sector. Turkish Airlines, or THY, will start direct flights from Antalya to three destinations in Europe, the Gazipaşa Airport in Alanya welcomed its first flight and a foreign firm has started direct flights from Kuwait to Antalya.  Sururi Çorabatır, president of the Mediterranean Tourist Hoteliers and Operators Union, or AKTOB, has announced that THY will start direct flights from Paris, Dusseldorf and Stockholm to Antalya in November.

The Church of St. Nicholas, in the Demre district of Antalya, is on its way to becoming an important marriage destination for the Christian world as the Mediterranean region works to attracts more wedding tourism. With the new "Wedding City of Antalya" project, the southern city aims to build on its global reputation as a holiday destination and diversify tourism in the area.
